The preceding videos included the following:

The schedule of 2 minute presentations — 75 scheduled thus far originally scheduled for Nov. 19 — can be viewed at the very bottom of this page.

***

Meanwhile, partly as a form of synthesis of the November 19 Press Conference, I was inspired to record the following video, about the three things I consider most important and urgent for our current collective focus; please let me know what you think:

Basic Facts about The Press Conference:

  • The first Press Conference took place on Thursday November 19, 2020.
  • Subsequent Press Conferences will occur every Thursday thereafter.
  • All will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time.
  • The first hour will be dedicated to announcements, updates and short speeches and presentations.
  • The last 5 hours will be dedicated to 100 NEW conversations each week, each presenting for 2 minutes each, as we detail further below, and on the Sign Up page, wherein we encourage you to sign up.

Who is eligible to sign up to a present at The Press Conference?

We have exactly two criteria:

1.  You have be in general agreement with the shared mission or aim or goal of “saving, healing and transforming life on Earth” — whatever that reasonably means to YOU.

2.  You have to be willing to host an Open House at least once per month, to which anyone in the world is welcome to stop by and visit.

That’s it.  There is no cost to you; never will be.

***

Welcome!

Hello everyone, and welcome! Thank you all for being here. We are very happy you are here. Please make yourselves at home :-) For example, please feel free to sign up to present a 2 minute introduction to your conversation, at an upcoming The Press Conference, on the “SIGN UP” page herein.

Likewise, please feel free to watch and question and comment on the various videos we provide links to, as well as on the write ups on the main topics covered.

Here is a great place to start:  An Introduction and Invitation to The Press Conference:

Here is another Introduction, this one an Irish-American Summit on ThePressConference.org:

There are lots of ways to get a feel for who we are and what we are up to.  My favorite is to stop in and say hello in an “alternate reality” we are creating on TheConversation.cc – the 24×7 zoom link you will find therein is this:

https://zoom.us/j/595172819

Please feel free to pop in and talk with us in the above zoom room, literally whenever you feel like it. There is “almost always” someone there 😉   Feel free to peruse the Calendar on TheConversation.cc as well, but seriously, do not hesitate to just pop in whenever – we will ALWAYS be happy to see you here! (even if you haven’t read every page on this website yet! 😉 In fact, all joking aside, not everyone likes to read reams of web page content, so no need to read further if that’s not your style – just jump in to the above zoom room and we will break it down for you in simple conversation).

Here is our thesis, in simple terms:

There are literally millions of transformational conversations happening every week via videoconference, mostly on zoom. And by “transformational“, I mean conversations which address head-on the questions of how do we save, heal and transform life on Earth, in the face of exponentially growing disaster, death and mass extinction.

There are two fundamental problems which are endemic to this entire set of millions of transformational conversations:

  1. These conversations are, for the most part, quite separate and isolated from each other. There are exceptions, but on the whole, this is the case.
  2. These conversations are not leading to the urgent actions which need to be implemented at planetary scale, if we are to have a real chance at coming out the other side of this, not only surviving but thriving

The preceding two problems are self-reinforcing, resulting in a “normal“ of conversations which remain, for the most part, abstract, theoretical, and in many cases narcissistic. Again, there are exceptions, and if you are reading this in 2020, you very likely represent one of those exceptions.

The heart of our thesis is this: we urgently need to link and connect as many of these conversations as are willing, together into a vast hyper-connected Network of Conversations, characterized in turn by:

  1. Participating conversations, typically recurring weekly conversations with a particular focus and a small community centered around that focus, actively reaching out to other transformational conversations, to connect, cross-pollinate both people and ideas, and establish relationships where either of the two-or-more conversations in question can reach out to the other(s) as frequently as needed for support.
  2. Participating conversations, and their humans (humans won’t be the only ones “at the table“ in these conversations; AI is playing an exponentially growing role in conversation, but that is neither central to nor necessary for our thesis, so if you prefer, please ignore the contents of this parenthetic tangent) are committed to “play the real game” of saving, healing and transforming life on Earth – to paraphrase President Fox below – and in this present context that means playing with each other across conversations.

To really get the flavor of the preceding point, please watch the 2 minute 15 second interval from minute 4:45 to minute 7:00 of the video below from May 30, 2013, delivered by President Vicente Fox of Mexico, in yet another press conference which changed the course of history:

***

So if the preceding is our thesis, how are we bringing it to life?

Short Answer:

The Press Conference, plus other key elements of infrastructure supporting the emergent Network of Conversations, as we happily explore in the sections which follow.

Long Answer:

To answer this question, let us start with a framework, a context for it:

We are in the millions of transformational conversations – conversations which deal head-on with the fundamental question, “How do we save, heal and transform life on Earth?”

Let us consider a simplified version of reality, which is actually not too far off the mark at the present moment:

These millions of transformational conversations currently in existence (typically recurring on a weekly basis; the more serious ones meet every week), can be considered “a set of conversations“, and at present, not “a network of conversations”.

Here is a good analogy: let us say there are 11 soccer players wandering around the streets of Mexico City, who have never met each other before, never played against each other before, never even heard about each other before.

And “by chance“ these 11 soccer players all arrive at the same soccer field at the same moment. They talk, they get to know each other, they play for a bit, and then they decide to form a team.

In the process they went from “a set of soccer players“ (with zero tangible connection between them, other than what they have in common, which is that they are all soccer players). I say a “set” in the mathematical sense of the word, meaning simply a collection, without any implication whatsoever about the presence or absence of connections amongst the members of the set.

Once those 11 players became a team, they evolved from being “a mere set” of players with zero connections between them, to being “in network” with a very rich connectivity amongst the players. For example their entire playbook of plays, constitutes a form of connectivity. If you consider each play to be like a “collective dance“, now the team knows how to dance together in different ways, and cause things to happen.

The Press Conference: Logistics

Here are the basic logistics:

  • The first Press Conference will take place on Thursday November 19, 2020.
  • Subsequent Press Conferences will occur every Thursday thereafter.
  • All will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time.
  • The first hour will be dedicated to announcements, updates and short speeches and presentations.
  • The last 5 hours will be dedicated to 100 NEW conversationseach week, each presenting for 2 minutes each, as we detail further below, and on the Sign Up page, wherein we encourage you to sign up.

The writing below, the About page, and the Philosophy page make clear exactly who we are, and where we are coming from.  Please enjoy your reading, and please consider Signing Up!  We need you here; the world will not be the same without you.

***

The Press Conference consists of myriad conversations and their representatives, as well as groups and networks of conversations and actions, including each of you who would like to be a part of it.  We are all coming together, engaged in an emergent network of transformational conversations, leading to urgently needed actions, and we are inviting the whole world to participate in all of these with us.

All with the singular aim of saving, healing and transforming life on Earth.  Singular, yet multi-faceted at the same time; it is precisely the vast and growing number of facets, dimensions, solutions, components, and complete action-implementation plans, as well as the necessary analyses and explorations – all of the different “parts of the whole” which matter and beckon to be understood and/or mastered and/or implemented.

The set of all of these parts, as a whole, beckons for a vast, planetary network of conversations to collectively organize and make sense of all of the parts of the whole, through conversation. These conversations are all oriented to lead to urgently needed action and implementation, all moderated by these conversations.  This emergent network of conversations from our perspective urgently needs to manifest, self-identify as a network, evolve, and grow exponentially.  The Press Conference is here to help define, foster and catalyze these processes.

This potential exponential growth of the network of conversations and actions will be driven by more and more individuals and groups joining us with the shared aims and intentions bringing us together, all of us simultaneously stepping into our collective power, collective intelligence, collective consciousness, collective sense-making, and most importantly our collective will to act together, in harmony and in unison and in tight coordination where needed.  All of this held together and supported by an interweaving Web of conversations and actionable projects, wherein we make it as easy and simple as possible for people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, from all around the world, to each explore and find their place or places within this vast emergent network.  And one’s “places” may be a rapidly growing and evolving set of conversations and projects – the idea of liquidity and fluidity throughout the network is key.  Minds like water.  Medium like water.  And consider that an individual who frequents multiple conversations is like a covalent electron connecting them all.

Aims of The Press Conference:

  1. To bring you (yes, you!) together with a group of 100 of us at a time:  100 individuals, each in representation of their respective conversation, their group, or their network of conversations (e.g., TheConversation.cc).  Together, we will learn about each other’s respective conversations and We will explore and begin to connect and weave all of these into a holistic network of conversations and projects in order to facilitate humanity’s collective quest to find, perfect and implement effectively all of the solutions we need to save, heal and transform life on Earth
  2. Proclaim the emergent planetary network of conversations and actions, both to ourselves, as well as to the entire world, with an invitation to the world to join these transformational conversations.  Through these and other vital actions, we seek to foster the healthy exponential growth of the network of conversations and actionable projects

This first press conference, scheduled for Thursday November 19, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time, is the first of a series of weekly press conferences, every Thursday from 11 to 5, all with the preceding aims.

From 11 a.m. to 12 noon, guest speakers will speak for a few minutes each, according to that week’s agenda.  And then from 12 noon to 5 p.m., 100 new conversations will be introduced via a representative speaking for 2 minutes each, about the specific conversation, who the folks are having the conversation, and what topic(s) they are conversing about, and maybe even what their aim(s) or goal(s) are, and most importantly:  inviting YOU (and everyone) to join them in their regular Open House events.  How cool is that?

Each conversation’s recurring Open House is a key part of the process, which each conversation or group included in The Press Conference must hold at least once per month, ideally every week.

Please join us!  If you would like to present to the world a 2 minute introduction and invitation to your conversation and actions, please sign up on the Sign Up page.

More on The Press Conference

Which press conference? THE. As in singular: it is time for mother Earth to embrace her own singularity, that she is one, and that the time is now. Accordingly, there beckons for a singular recurring weekly press conference during which we update the world on the state of integration of the diverse conversations “out there“ into this emergent Network of Conversations.

When? Every Thursday, starting November 19, 2020. From 11 AM to 5 PM Pacific time.

Where? On the following zoom link:

https://zoom.us/j/595172819

How? A whole bunch of us are going to get together, and talk, and in some cases screen share, on the zoom meeting. The presenters are signing up on the SIGN UP page herein.

Who? Each Thursday, there will be two sets of participants in The Press Conference:

  1. Guest speakers for the week.
  2. 100 people, representing 100 conversations, newly indoctrinating them selves into the emergent Network of Conversations, and being cordially welcomed into the same.

100 at this weekly press conference… We anticipate the myriad other press conferences will follow as more and more of the millions of conversations which happen every week, which are growing by the day, “pound on the door“ wanting to get in… different press conferences will emerge like wildfire, and most will focus on a specific scope of topics, e.g., “Climate Change and Cooling the Planet”.

What? Let’s start with the 100 conversations represented in part B. above: each of these will introduce themselves to the emergent Network of Conversations, talk about who they are, what they are talking about, what their goals, aims, mission are, what their level of urgency is, the timeframe for action they propose, and optionally myriad other structured information they can fill in and update as needed.

These 100 newly debuted conversations (debuted formally to the emergent Network of Conversations via The Press Conference), each week, represent a form of “fire hose”, spewing a steady stream of pioneering transformational conversations, into the decentralized Network of Conversations.

The next question is, what kind of olympic size swimming pool do we need, in order to capture the output of this weekly fire hose?

That is a topic we take in a pending section below “Spectral Radius of Dimensions of Support for the Network of Conversations”

Vision

Context: We have been thrown together . . . and now a vast set of conversations is popping up

The COVID crisis, along with our other planetary crises, have thrown us together in conversation about what we can and must do to get through this compound set of crises. To put it in very simple terms, the scorching hot question(s) of the day center around the following singular fundamental root question:

In the face of this seemingly intractable mix of crises . . .

How do we save, heal and transform life on Earth?

Our planet is overheating exponentially (at last count, 67 self-reinforcing feedback loops driving planetary overheating). Overheating is the single biggest driver (of many) driving the current 6th mass extinction, and the toxification and destruction of the biosphere generally. Pile on top of these COVID and political and economic breakdown at a planetary scale, and you have the makings of near-term planetary disaster on a scale and scope that is essentially unimaginable, particularly among those who control the planet’s resources – the most privileged among are the least capable of imagining it all going away.

But let’s get back to the conversations about dealing with these crises:

A number of us are “mad as Hell, and not going to take it anymore.” You may find yourself in this group.

Like microscopic water droplets condensing within of a body of moist, cooling air, groups have popped up everywhere to get together on Zoom and other platforms to talk about it all.

Folks in general have gravitated toward those groups in which we feel most “at home”. This is most often with like-minded folks of the same tribe, whether this tribe consists of West-coast liberals, environmentalists, folks in the same city or region, or folks with similar spiritual, political or cultural persuasions.

And as these groups and their conversations have grown and evolved over the course of the last 8 months, there is a growing awareness of the vast numbers at play here: The number of groups which have formed, and the number of people participating in these (actual or wannabe) transformational conversations.

***

Set of Conversations: Running the Numbers: Millions

Let’s do a thought experiment: Suppose that 1% of humanity is involved in these transformational conversations. (Some might estimate that it is closer to 0.1% of humanity; if so, just divide the following numbers by 10). 1% of 8 billion people is 80 million people. And suppose that these folks, on average, participate in 2 such transformational conversations per week each, with an average of 10 people per conversation. That nets out to 16 million transformational conversations every week. That’s a lot of conversations.

And again, if the percentage of humanity participating in these conversations is 0.1% instead of 1%, then it works out to 1.6 million transformational conversations per week.

No matter how you slice it, we are conversing within an ocean of millions of transformational conversations, all happening in parallel, with the vast majority of these in relative isolation from each other.

What is missing from this picture of millions of transformational conversations, on the topics of how to save, heal and transform life on Earth? In two words:

  • Hyperconnectivity
  • Liquidity

Talking Conversations: Examples from the Block Party, etc.

If you peruse the following page . . .

CI Block Party

You will find links to a number of recordings of transformational conversations, which range from presentation-conversation combinations, which are an interesting hybrid, to “full on conversations from the get go“.

These transformational conversations can be about very very practical things, such as feeding everyone in the world, and cooling the planet… To much more theoretical and developmental things, such as 30 minutes of radical collective intelligence:
